What are some ways that the Golden Dawn meditate? I am doing a reserch paper on meditation right now. It is actually concentrated on the Zohar.

Depends upon your EXACT definition of meditation. For while the GD knowledge lectures include instruction for meditation on simple geometric symbolsa type of yantric meditation on such things as a meditation.
I would also suggest that you look for the books by Aryeh Kaplan: Mediation and the Bible Meditation and the Kabbalah Jewish Meditation.
They are quite brilliant.

Greetings, Treky.
The things you list above are not definitions of meditation, they are methods of meditation. Big difference. Know how a cars engine works is not the same as driving the car. And the car can then drive you to the highest mountain or a den of iniquity (well, I just wanted to throw in that phrase!).
For some people the definition of meditation is equal to that of contemplation. For others it is achieving mindlessness. For still others it is finding a period of calm. What is YOUR definition?
Yantric meditation techniques involve working with drawn symbols which are usually, but not always, two dimensional. They can be complex symbols, such as the various yantras found in Tantra, or simple shapes such as used by the G.D. For example, the first meditation is to meditate on a simple, geometric point. It sounds silly or simple, but it is possible to spend hours meditating on a point.
For the other symbols, see the knowledge lectures in Regardies book, The Golden Dawn.
relate to your question.

Meditation is like a tornado.
When done poorly, it's tail whips around decimating all in its path of 'right' vs 'ought' vs 'will' creating many shards of debris which become just so much more flotsam, leaving a shamble for you to dwell within unless resolved.
When done rightly, breakthru is achieved, where insight reintegrates the numerous pieces and the core lines up to it's source to become quite still, to become the slate-wiper, which completely erases that which no longer serves a purpose so that not a trace remains.
The energy dynamics are the same, and are well worth contemplating.
My 'definition' for you would be 're-orientation of a personal world view', which when out of balance acts like the wobbling top and whorling tornado. 'Doctors', 'Psychiatrists', and other rent-a-friend substitutes facilitate this re-orientation by affecting your spin cycle...
