If you want to listen to a very good debate on the existence of god I think this is one option a debate between Sam Harris and Rabbi David Wolpe.
The question of god’s existence is one that most of us have already figured out for ourselves.
I personally don’t think that we believe in god because we have too, it is more often a reflexion on the way we feel connected in the world.
It is quite possible to be a good person and be an atheist if you have respect and compassion for your fellow human beings. It is quite possible on the other hand to see science and religion completing each other.
I do agree with the claim that Judaism is very open to the scientific discoveries and there is no need to chose sides as the ancient wisdom is advance enough to be open to knowledge that we gather about the world in other means apart for religion.
Update: Just discovered another very interesting source for discussing the ever present question of does science make the belief in god obsolete - here. No, not all scientist think so and even if they did you were still entitled to your opinion.
