If I understand correctly, you describe the Great Work (GW) as a process rather than a concrete point. While the concept of a journey is helpful in studying magick and in life, I don't think that's all GW is. If it is, then most people according to your charaterization have achieved the GW. I always thought of it as much more special and selective than that, but I agree that some kind of journey concept is involved and that perhaps the GW is not the end of the journey. However, I do think that one achieves the GW by crossing a threshold, for example, completing one's mastery of The Tree of Life and moving through all ten sephiras or at least up to Keter.

Hello Ilya. I hope you will pardon me leaping in.

Would you consider that the Great Work is synonymous with gaining the 'Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel'?

If so, how would you describe the 'Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel' in kabbalistic terms? If not, how would you draw a distinction between the two things?

I would be interested in hearing other views on this last point. Ilya is on the move and so cannot contribute directly to the newsgroup for a while, but I think the question is important. Any thoughts out there?
