Sara's Blog

Miriam Metzinger wrote an interesting blog post about the mitzvah to be fruitful and multiply which we all know as the mitzvah to have children. The interesting thing was the explanation that not only physical children are considered children.
According to the Talmud, if a person teaches another Torah, it is as if he has given birth to that person. Therefore, every student carries on the lessons learned from a teacher in a similar way that children convey the genetic code of their parents for future generations.
When you teach someone the Torah you have created him in a sense. Love the idea.
